Welcome to the second digital edition of 4Corners, a publication of the the global student community at Washington College. Last year we decided it was time to fully enter the 21st century with an online version of 4Corners that can reach a truly global audience and provide our contributors with more options to express themselves. But no matter the form of expression, the same themes emerge from author to author. All our students, whether international students studying at Washington College or domestic students traveling overseas, learn to appreciate other cultures, gain confidence and experience personal growth by traveling beyond their own national borders.

The Global Education Office (GEO), which oversees the publication of 4Corners, is very proud of the global community on campus.  In the 2017-18 academic year, the campus enrolled 27 students from 13 countries, including Germany, Turkey, Ecuador, Finland, and Morocco. During the same period, 50 Washington College students traveled to 13 countries including Hong Kong, South Africa, France, Ireland, and England.

Last year 24 International Student Guides from across the campus helped GEO welcome new international students in the fall and spring semesters.  They served as ambassadors of the college, easing the new students into their lives in the United States and on the Washington College campus.  And the GEO itself could not have functioned without the help of our terrific student workers -- Simran Bajaj '19, Felicia Attor '20, Xin (Clinton) Miao '21, Rachel Agyare '19, Marah Tarawneh '19, Ahmed Alhazmi '20, Amorn Chitkittiwong '18, Allyson Scott '18, Girija Ganeshan '19, Emily Stakem '18 and Nina Black '20.  In fact, Emily and Nina created this publication under the guidance of GEO Study Abroad Coordinator, Alex Levy '15.  They have done a terrific job and we hope you will enjoy browsing GEO's new publication as much as we enjoyed creating it.
